Hi there! :)
My name is Brittany, I am 24 years old and live with my partner and our three cats and three chickens in New Lynn.
I am a qualified veterinary nurse, gradutating from Unitec with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2014 and have worked in vet clinics with both domestic and exotic animals. I have also studied Unitec's Certificate in Animal Welfare Investigations in 2017. I am currently working for the Auckland SPCA and have been there for four years. I absolutely love my job and working with animals is my passion. In my spare time (when not housesitting), I foster cats and kittens from the SPCA and have done so for a number of years now.
Through my own pet ownership, studies and work in vet clinics and animal shelter environments I have gained a huge range of skills and experience with a wide variety of animals. I am confident caring for all domestic species; cats, dogs, rabbits etc, as well as more exotic animals such as birds and reptiles and even larger farm animals!
I am confident in giving oral and injectable medications, competent in pet first aid and able to quickly recognise any signs of illness and injury and take action when necessary. I understand the different needs and requirements of younger vs elderly animals and have a great understanding of animal behavioural, behavioural issues and how to manage these.
I will care for your pets as if they are my own and will always be accomodating to any special requests!
You can expect regular photo updates and I am also happy to water plants, collect mail and do any other household tasks required at no extra cost!
Please send me a message so we can discuss your pet sitting needs! :)
*Please note I work full time Monday-Friday so am unable to accomodate middle of the day visits*
It was great having Brittany stay at the house and look after our two pet cats - she was very quick to reply to any messages and left the house very tidy as well. A special plus was the way she managed to win over one cat who is very shy and sometimes hides for hours under the bed - Brittany managed to draw him out of his shell very quickly and sent several photos of him as well.
Brittany was amazing and lovely. Visited Smooch twice a day to give Smooch her medication and eye drops. We felt confident that Smooch would be well cared for and she was. Came home to a happy cat (who looks like she might have put on some much needed weight). We’ll definitely be calling Brittany again.
