I service Lake Hawea and Wanaka. I am a retired customs officer with a passion for animals and a strong interest in animal behaviour.  

Animals have always been part of my life: cats and hamsters when I was a child, horses from my teenage years up until recently. My last horse Clyde was a ... Clydesdale. During my 7 years as a yard manager at a riding centre in Scotland I trained horses with natural horsemanship methods and clicker training. Bonnie, my 16 year-old fox terrier cross loves to show off the many tricks I taught her with clicker training and positive reinforcement.  

I have experience with cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, cows and horses. Your best friend/s will be well looked after and if you wish I can keep you updated about their day through video messages, photos, text or emails. 

I lived in Scotland for 14 years before moving to New Zealand in 2005. After owning a lifestyle block in Brighton and working for NZ Customs in Dunedin for over 10 years Covid provided an opportunity in 2020 to move to my dream town - Lake Hawea!

I'm a member of two local artist groups and I draw pet portraits with coloured pencil on sandpaper (examples in the photo section) and also greeting cards and paintings in watercolour.

Boarding service at my property is available for small to medium-sized dogs (up to 12kgs, no bigger than a fox terrier) and at least three years old. A free meet and greet for our dogs and us will be arranged before you book.

Your dog will have access to the whole of my fully fenced property and will be walked every day at least 3 times either together with my dog Bonnie or on their own.

Lake Hawea offers many ideal dog walking tracks: along the lake front past Gladstone Gap towards John Creek, Sentinel Park, the donkey path, Timsfield and Lake Hawea township itself.

Nightly boarding charge covers 24 hours, i.e. if you want to drop your dog off on Tuesday at 9am pick-up would have to be on Wednesday before 9am. If pick-up is going to be later on that day, a second boarding charge will apply.

Doggy day care is usually available between 7am and 7pm.
