I am a middleaged woman with two elderly cats. I've had Jessie (17 years) since she was 8 weeks old, and adopted Felix(17.5 years) about two years ago.
Due to renal problems, Jessie now requires me to give her subcutaneous fluids on a regular basis. Since getting Felix, I have fallen for the elderly cat and would love to one day set up a retirement home for cats. Since coming to me, Felix has been diagonised with diabetes and requires twice daily insulin injections. I enjoy the company of having cats around. I have tropical fish and I have also recently adopted Moby a red-eared slider turtle and am enjoying learning about his needs and wants. I have also adopted a 12 year old named Missy, she's a bit of a naughty tortie.
Update: Felix and Jessie have both passed in the last year. But a young girl named TT has become a permanent fixture in my household.
I have also just adopted a tiny Jack Russel girl called Jae Jae. Exciting times ahead.
I have years of experience working in the pet boarding industry and have been trained at CPIT. I have the national certificate in animal care. I have worked with not only cats and dogs, but also rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, birds, chickens, rats, mice and even an axalotole or two. I am trained and experienced in giving a wide range of medications to a variety of animals.
I volunteer for my local community patrol and as such have been police checked.
I am also on the leadership team for my local community hub.
I work in reception at my local veterinary clinic.
I can pop in on a daily basis, often at short notice. I can also do things like check mail, water plants, open/close curtains, put out bins etc
As well as my cat bag - which contains small toys, treats, cat nip etc, I also have a selection of toys that I can bring and sometimes leave to keep your cat entertained while you are away.
I live over in the east of Christchurch and will only take on new clients round east or possibly south Christchurch.
I also work till 3 pm during the week, so most visits will be in the afternoon or early evening.
